SABRE Frontiersman MAX Bear Spray 7.9 oz
The SABRE Frontiersman MAX Bear Spray is a 7.9 oz EPA-registered bear and mountain lion deterrent with the strongest formula the EPA allows (2.0% major capsaicinoids) and a 40-foot range fog pattern. It sprays for roughly 6-8 seconds per canister, ships with a quick-draw belt holster, and is made in the USA and tested in an in-house HPLC lab for consistent potency.

A bear bluff-charge closes 30 feet in about two seconds — the moment you realize the spray in your pack's bottom pocket might as well be in another state. The Frontiersman MAX rides on your hip in its quick-draw holster, throws a 40-foot fog roughly double the reach of standard sprays, and carries the 2.0% capsaicinoid formula, the strongest the EPA allows. You may never need it — but if you do, it needs to be in your hand, not your pack.
🏆 How It Compares
vs. standard 7.9 oz bear sprays: the Frontiersman MAX roughly doubles effective reach to 40 feet and uses the EPA-maximum 2.0% capsaicinoid formula, so a charge can be stopped from farther away with less wind drift. Trade-offs: the can is bulky on the hip, the spray expires after 3-4 years and should be replaced each season, and it can't go in carry-on luggage or into some park visitor centers.
