Ruffwear Dirtbag Dog Car Seat Cover
The Ruffwear Dirtbag is the trail-to-trailhead upgrade for dog owners who want a car cover that installs in seconds and disappears when not needed. Made from 300D recycled polyester with a waterproof coating, it converts between two setups: a bench cover for everyday drives and a hammock configuration that blocks the gap between the seats on adventure days. A mesh window keeps air flowing to the back seat, while the non-slip fabric grips even leather seats so the dog stays stable in corners. Secure seat anchors, stuffer cleats, and side flaps hold everything in place, and the whole cover is machine washable. It's the same build quality as Ruffwear's trail gear, which is why it's the pick of reviewers who drive a lot of miles with a lot of dog.

You rinse the dog at the trailhead faucet, but by the time you are home the seats are coated in sand and the car smells like wet dog for a week. The Dirtbag installs over the back seat in seconds and takes the sand, mud, and smell with it when you pull it out to shake off at the end of the trip.
🏆 How It Compares
The Ruffwear Dirtbag converts between bench and hammock configurations, so it works for everyday drives and muddy trailhead adventures alike, and the waterproof 300D recycled polyester shrugs off wet fur, mud, and sand. It costs more than generic covers — the materials and build justify it — but it is a newer product with fewer Amazon reviews than long-established competitors.
